Realistically, what salary would I need to live comfortably in Chicago? I'm moving from Missouri and I'm hoping to rent a two bedroom apartment in a decent area, but could make a one bedroom work if I had to. I wouldn't have a car and would rely on walking and public transportation. Any ideas?

If you are making 80k-100k that is enough to live in a nice apartment downtown. For 2 bedroom apartment it spends on where you live. The further north you go the cheaper. Cheapest you could get is $1800. I am renting out a 2 bedroom in Edgewater/Andersonville message me if interested

Following.

I suggest you shot for at least $80,000 a year, ,ore if you want a luxury building

I work through a contractor, and was hired 2yrs ago to be a Systems Test Engineer II. They decided last minute to make me a Software Content Manager, but kept my title as is since it was supposed to be a 6mo rotation. I’m still an SCM, and am taking on leadership roles in the group. How do I ask for a title change and pay increase to reflect what I actually do? Do I ask my contract house, or my NASA mgmt? Should I ask to make the pay retroactive since I was hired to do one thing, but do another?

Have NYC-based employers with hybrid schedule been lenient for office workers? In light of crime trends, pandemic, work-life priorities, I'm trying to assess if taking a hybrid NYC job (as someone working remotely from NJ now) is worth the headache. Potential new employer says 3 days in a week, but during my interview process, I only met with one person who was in the office during my Zoom interview.

What is your best advice for moving into data science without going back to school for a masters?
I have an engineering bachelors and my mba, and want to move into the data science and analytics side of things in the long term.
I’m currently in Strategy Consulting and I find it too functional and hypothetical/theoretical/ high level. Looking for advice on resources, timelines, skillets, building connections/network, things to consider, moving forward /path of last resistance, etc etc

Is it normal for a smaller firm (less than 100 attys) to expect biglaw level hours without the pay? Current first year who has been at my first job since September, making $85k. My firm’s billable requirements aren’t super high at 1900, but the partner I work for has told me that she’d like me to bill 2200.I know there’d tons of ppl in BL billing close to 3k but I feel like this is way too much for my current pay. My salary is the same as other associates who are expected to just bill 1900

Any recs for relatively affordable low-key trainers/gyms/programs around? I gained the COVID 50 (ugh) and am pretty embarrassed about my current shape so I don’t want to jump into a full group fitness class just yet. I’d like to start with some solo workouts but still have the accountability of a group fitness like Orange Theory (which I was pretty into pre-COVID). Also “affordable” meaning I can basically use the annual $1k fitness subsidy we get from Uncle D and pay minimal out of pocket.
