A new analyst has joined our team and we often give them models/ slides but don’t always ask them if they know all of the accounting principles to be able to make minute adjustments to EBITDA or free cash flow. We are a FIG platform, so the knowledge required is relatively unique as well and not as easy to google as corporate transactions. Is there a better way to coach the analyst short of just throwing them in the deep end to figure it out or should we wait for them to ask us for help?

Second year associate here who recently switched from litigation to corporate law. I am absolutely swamped while simultaneously having no idea what I’m doing ever and I’m feeling so burnt out. I’ve always wondered how are lawyers chosen to be recognized in magazines or online publications as “Best Lawyers”/“Rising Stars”? I’ve always assumed it’s a circle jerk of some sorts for Big Firms nominating each other, but I have no idea.

Am 2 months in to a new job with billable hours and I am miserable. How do I seamlessly go back to my old firm? Is this move a career killer?

What do you do about computer problems? It just took me 24 minutes to send a .1 email due to my computer constantly freezing. Is it worth entering that time into non-billable? Or do I just stop whining and work longer to make it up?
