Seeking advice: I want to learn how to build a business. I have done product for 8 years now and I am keen on moving away from just building features or products to focusing on pure business skills. What roles in an organization would give me the best exposure to do this? I can’t be a founder as I am on a work permit.

I’m learning about entrepreneurship through strategically collaborating with some friends of mine that have already built their business. Since you said you want to focus more so on “pure business skills” I’d be open to chatting with you about the folks I’m learning from. Shoot me a dm if that’s a conversation/connecting you’d value.

Midtier Valuation Advisory to Banking? I have an offer from a midtier accounting firm (BDO) for their Associate position in the Valuation Advisory team.

I’m thinking to switch to the Advisory role as a stepping stone to break into banking in a few years, or if that’s not possible then into Big 4. However, still considering accepting the offer because will be getting a 25% pay cut.

I’ve been working in Sales in a non-finance field for few months after finishing BBA in Finance & CFA L1.

is it worth it to shift to IB or MBB after 7 years in the big four(audit and fdd)? I do think IB and MBB are interesting fields that you can acquire unique skill sets and a good network. But I don’t think I couldn’t keep up already for a daily grind. The reason why I did not pursue it earlier in my career is that I am not from a target school and I do not have an MBA. lol thoughts?

I’m a new manager and got added to a new engagement. Everything is overmy head. Usually I catch up within a month. But this engagement is very very different. It will take me a while to get a hang of. The positive is that there is a lot of learning. But I had goals of being a sm in a year or 2 and I don’t see that happening in this engagement. What do you guys think, should do? It’s a huge engagement so it’s room to grow. Should I just suck it up and try?

Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about. The worrying/anxiety multiplies when I proceeded further in the interview stages. Now that I signed the offer and is pending background checks, my anxiety is off the roof as it itches closer to my starting date.
