Any good job pivots from wealth management into another career? I’ve been a wealth management advisor at a wirehouse for 7 years. Wanting something with less emphasis on selling and business development. Any suggestions?

Used to be in Credit Suisse Private Banking and now pivot into Product Management for a large AM with sizable Wealth Management channel. I would suggest you find what you want or are interested in and go from there. For example, Alt Investment, Liquid Alt are the hottest spaces in the market for HNW. My role still have a bit of BD but it is much less selling pressure compared to RM or FA

I absolutely agree with all the selling points on how your FA experience translates to product management. Going to use this for my next interview!

You said the word: wirehouse! The industry is just moving away from that model. Have you looked into the RIA space?! It’s such a different (and more gratifying) world with so many different comp models! I’d be happy to talk with you further! I’d hate to see a female leave financial services. There’s such great opportunity in this industry.

For a moment I thought I posed the question haha! I’ve been in wealth management for 7 years now, 10 months ago I did a pivot from private client financial advisor on the BD side to product manager. It’s been very interesting to say the least, definitely has pros and cons.
The product I am now managing I knew pretty well prior to the pivot, it was my favorite advisory product.

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? Tried researching this for hours but only found info on applying to other agencies.

Just curious to how my firms (wealth management/bank/trust) comp compares with others out there. I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. By meeting expectations in 2 pay cycles, the base bumps up to $175K + bonus. Grown in this role over about 10 years with the same firm, MBA + CFA; top 10 city and living comfortably as dual income household.
