Should a company go out of business if it hurts consumers? 3M is facing lawsuits for their defective ear plugs, surgical blankets, firefighter foam, PFAs, etc. Someone just got $77.5 million on 1 earplug case and there are about 270,000 military personnel with tinnitus and hearing loss. At least 20,000 people who have had multiple surgeries from their blankets and some who have had limbs amputated, who knows how many have had cancer, etc from chemicals made by 3M. 3M market cap is 87 billion

Someone at dinner said should plaintiff lawyers put this decade company out of business? Don't all companies create things that can hurt society but provide benefit. Makeup, social media, etc. Or should companies get punished if they created toxic, hurtful items so that they are deterred from doing it again and hurting the public? Would it matter if it was you facing cancer or having hearing problems for the rest of your life.

A lot of lawyers have attacked 3M. They have at least 270000 ear plug claims. Maybe I should have posted in the mass tort fishbowl. But that bowl is dead.

Yes they should. My partner is a veteran and is one of the thousands of claims against 3M. They should pay for literally destroying people's lives at worst and huge financial damages at least.

Thank you, I didn't know to explain it to this person at dinner. I was like um it's a lot of people who have hearing loss, tinnitus, lost legs, had to have 2, 3, 4, 5, surgeries, kidney, pancreatic, prostate, or testicular cancer cancer, immune issues, etc.

Or we can just let them go because they are too big to fail and well all the companies can continue going on unchecked and continue hurting people.

If it hurts enough people, yes. The litigation will run them out of business.

Hi Fishes, I need your advice!

I joined CG 6 months back and was on training for 3-4 months for Dynamics CRM, completing multiple MS certifications. Post that I was mapped to an account for the project & was under shadow.

After shadow completed it seems like there's no project openings in the account for which I was selected. And now management wants me to go for other certs.

Please help me know whom can I approach & ask for project openings/tagging. I'm worried as it's already been 6 months!

Anyone know a Connecticut or 2nd circuit case for this rule? I can’t find one to save my life. A defendant generally is liable for all harmful results that are the normal incidents of and within the increased risk caused by their negligent acts. If a defendant's negligence was a substantial factor in producing the plaintiff's injuries, the element of proximate cause has been satisfied and the defendant would not be relieved from liability for those injuries even though another force concurred..

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

I give my cell phone to all clients routinely. However, there are always 1 to 2 clients who abuse this and it seems as soon as their cases are over I find a new one and it is making me rethink. I hate to do this because 98% do not abuse it and I like being connected to my people. Thoughts??

In an auto accident trial, can you inform the jury in any way that the at-fault driver had insurance? I have a hard time believing a jury would award 7-figure damages if they thought the little old lady defendant had to personally pay. I’m just starting to do PI on the side by myself at my firm, so this is probably a very dumb and obvious question.

I received a job offer from a PI firm (MVA and tractor trailer cases) in Houston, Texas; the bonus proposed was 2.5% of attorney’s fees for any cases settled each quarter. We are assigned 50 cases a quarter and the top attorney clears $25K each quarter. This is my first time working at a PI firm. Can anyone share any guidance? Is 2.5% industry standard? Is it realistic to settle/resolve that many cases? I am trying to learn more about this niche before I counter-offer and attempt to negotiate.
