Since Google and Microsoft scans and reads all the documents we put on their online storage such as Google drive , what are best paid or free alternatives to store your financial documents online. I don't want Google to have any knowledge of important stuff in my life. Any secure and trustworthy services. Last option is to store on local drives with multiple backup drives but those are all prone to failure, theft and hacking

Proton drive, koofr, sync.com.

Alternatively, encrypt your file locally before you upload it to one drive or Google Drive, with a CMEK, so MSFT or Google can’t access the contents to scan.

Use your own encryption key, that’s relatively straightforward.

Aside from professional obligations to protect client secretes, which it doesn’t sound like are at issue, what on earth are you so concerned about Google having some peripheral knowledge of?

These types of privacy concerns are so vastly overblown it’s nuts.

I let my clients manage their own secretions 🤣

iCloud

Anything you put in the cloud (Dropbox, iCloud, google, etc.) can be accessed if someone tried hard enough just like anything you keep locally or printed in your home. I think we just have to weigh what feels best to us. No solution is foolproof.

My fiancé and I are first time home buyers (both 28 yo) and would like to know what makes more sense: buying an expensive home or buying a lower cost one. Our combined income is around 400K but since we just began working post school, our savings are only $70K right now (also 30K in student loan debt). We’re buying in a high property tax state where taxes could be 4% (think 12K taxes on 600K home). Should we get a 500K house or get a 800K - 900K (which represents most I’m willing to spend)

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.

Hi everyone! I’m a young professional right out of college getting into investing and personal finance management. Trying to better understand and educate myself on personal finance and investment strategies. Hello I just started my first job (I’m 22) and I need to set up a 401k for matching with my company. I’m really confused how this works because I want to try to hit the IRS maximum of $19,500 for Roth contributions this year. Maybe it’s too late in the year now, but it’s asking me to pick my desired contribution % per pay period, but I’m not sure how much to do because it says it’ll kick in 1-2 pay cycles and I don’t even know when the next pay check comes yet. Any tips would be great
