Slalom Consulting what is the progression path within your organization? Coming over as an Accenture SM what would be considered a lateral move vs promotion? Thanks!

Ex-ACN, Deloitte, Cap and EY here, now at Slalom for a few years. We’ve hired Accenture SMs anywhere between SC and Senior Principal. The models are very different. At Accenture, an SM is generally 10 years in, largely running ~$2M projects that were probably sold with vast amounts of help. A Senior Principal at Slalom is, in many cases, someone that finds new leads, nurtures them, leads the pursuit, wins it, and then delivers it. S/he is doing that constantly on new pursuits, while also running 2-3 $300k projects in parallel. It takes some runway to adjust from small fish in a big pond to big fish in a small one. To give you an idea of the difference at the top of the model, a new Slalom MD is responsible for $20M worth of business (sales and delivery) and an Accenture or Deloitte new MD (I’ve been at both) is responsible for $6M-$7.5M. For context, at Slalom, under MD is Sr.D ($12.5M), D ($5M), Sr.P ($2.5M) and P ($1M)

like

Yeah, the $6M was for Deloitte and the $7.5M was for Accenture. And yes, the pay bands are very very wide...

like

They just changed it around, it's now basically:
Analyst > consultant > senior consultant > principal > senior principal > director > senior director > managing director > general manager.

There's a split starting at senior principal up to and including senior director where there's sales and delivery track with different bonus and evaluation structure

likehelpful

I think this makes SM at Accenture something like director at Slalom

like

Good reply from SC3, though like everything at Slalom, it varies a bit by geography. Newly promoted Senior Managers at other shops are usual principal to sr principal. Experienced SM are sr principal to ...maybe Director, but the director role has a lot of team metric based expectations that we like to have new hires grow into if they haven't been in a highly measured/leveraged role before.

like

Sr principal/principal. Sr has a 60% utilization target and large sales target. Principal has an 80% utilization with about half the sales target.
Also can go a delivery track which is more focused on expanding projects

like

I would make sure that you are coming in at Principal or above, and would not expect quick advancement.

likesmart

Why do you say that? There are many stories of rapid advancement , including all the way to GM

Q for the Slalom folks who replied - what is the compensation range and structure(s) for Sr Principal, D and MD at Slalom? That might provide a sense of how the roles map too.

Like everything in consulting, and just like at every other firm, it depends. City, practice, level of technical skill, years of expertise and market need will fetch you a higher or a lower salary. You don’t move to Slalom for the big payday, but for the opportunity to be treated like a human, and not like a money-printing bot (IMO). That being said, you can expect some moderate comp increase over what you’re making now if you make the jump...

Hello everyone , Please can someone share the compensation structure for sales analytics lead L6 roles for AWS Canada. And are there any tips on which component can we negotiate and tips for negotiation. Thank you in advance.

Hi Everyone, I completed all interview rounds at pwc Bangalore. HR said they will roll out the offer same day, already it's been 4 workings days since, still no sign of offer letter, although final HR round with compensation was completed and agreed. I called again yesterday, same reply that will get offer today, still no offer letter yet. I am also wondering, will I even get the letter or the HR just wants to delay intentionally.

Anyone from Epicor ? How's WLB and job security? Any reply would be helpful..🙏

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
