So a manager in my team decided that one of the tasks I do must be handed over to a newer colleague, they didn't really ask me for my opinion... this is supposed to help me as I have a heavy workload. However I'm investing hrs in training this new colleague on how to do that thing, this month I have completed half of the task myself to "show them", I asked them to continue by themselves but I see no traction, so it will eventually be me the one doing the work but them the ones sending it 🤦‍♂️

I feel foolish and fed up of spoon feeding others and doing their work in the shadow. I don't know what managers are thinking when they make this type of decision, you're making someone 1) Give away part of their scope & impact 2) Making them invest even more time to train someone and very likely continue doing the work under someone else's name. Must say that this task is something I came up with and ended up being really useful for my org. so it's an original "passion" project of mine, so it makes even less sense to hand it over to someone who seems to have no clue or initiative to work on it.

Just tell your manager you want to keep it because it's your baby but come up with something else to give the new person.

Have you explained to the manager that the person doesn’t understand the task and isn’t performing to standard?

I currently make 78k at Lockheed but I’m not doing what I’d like to be doing and i felt stuck and after many conversations with my manager and no solution in sight, I started applying elsewhere. I just recently got an offer from a smaller AI company for 95k that I plan to accept. I’m happy to make the jump, I just don’t know how my manager/coworkers will react when I tell them I’m leaving.

Tech company lay offs….are they soon to be inevitable?!

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? Many seem to still be having a hiring push but with the button falling (IMO this is still just start we have a long way to go to bottom out) will that halt and layoffs ensue? And if so, which depts do you think will get hit the hardest?

Anyone have insight to what the plan is at UpStart for example?

Looking for some UGC gigs. I can do unboxing and demos. Rates start at $100 for a video, and $20 per photo. which is significantly lower than others in the market. Just trying to get more content creation under my belt. I specialize in social media as a director in a marketing agency, so I know what will perform. Give me a holler if you need UGC for your brands! :)

I asked for $135K for a managerial position in govt sector at KPMG and I think I lowballed myself by putting that number on the application. If I receive am offer can I ask for more ? They never gave me a range but I feel like govt sector at all these firms is lower pay but that's my wheelhouse. It's 35% more than I make now so it sounds like a good number but based on research on here I could probably ask for 150k? Help!
