I don’t understand the question? If you gave your two weeks and those two weeks are over, then today is your last day. You resigned. What’s there to do? Why push back your start date? Who cares if your current firm recognized you leaving? You can unilaterally quit. You don’t need any type of acknowledgment. Give your PC to a partner and bounce.
Agree with EY1. It sounds like you informed both HR (officially) and a partner. You did your diligence. What they do (or don’t do) after being put on constructive (if not actual) notice is their prerogative. But I would certainly not change your plans with the new employer…
This seems hard to believe- did you not inform your people leader or partner? Been doing this for a long time and have never heard of a notice just sitting for a week. I would do more to flag someone internally. Youre going to a competitor and likely they will terminate you same day.
P1 - that’s not true. The HR portal is the formal record. I could be venting “I am quitting” to my leadership and that means nothing and they couldn’t take it as word of me quitting. It needs to be formalized in the HR portal.
Did you submit it in the system? Or just emails… the system is the register of last day. Your PML should have given you a list of must dos before you leave. Especially if you are going to a competitor, as you’d generally be done immediately (no 2 weeks).
I was told this too about the no two weeks. I quit PwC for ey and then ey for PwC. They always had me finish out my full 2 weeks. Ey had me finish my month as I was a SM by then.
This is fishy. Your HR documents should state how to handle your resignation. You probably need to initiate it in your HR system. Going to a competitor, they could terminate you immediately but pay out your two week notice period. You may have missed out on two weeks paid vaca.
I agree. This seems 100% fishy. I hope HR opens an investigation to ensure nothing was stolen if they stayed 2 weeks when going to a competitor.
If a tree falls in forest does it make a noise.
You have to put it into workday!! I’ve quit both PwC and ey and you need to log your last day into the system. Yes you should inform your teams and partners etc but it doesn’t matter at all until you put it into the system. Then there will be quite an extensive offboarding checklist you need to do. It is all run through the system and it walks you through it. You emailing someone did NOT put your two weeks in.
