So, I've been at this company for a few months now, and still working on getting up to speed. I heard my cubemates talking about an invite for a recurring meeting, and I wasn't included. Is this a bad sign? Am I looking at getting fired soon?

I wouldn't leap to that inclusion based on that alone, especially if you've only been there a few months. There are a lot of reasons you may not have been included, chief among them the fact that you're new and most of your coworkers probably aren't in the habit of inviting you and CCing you yet.

Not being on one meeting invite doesn’t mean you’re getting fired. If you’re unsure, ask someone about it. Worst case, they say it doesn’t concern your role right now. Doesn’t hurt to check.

Ask about it

Anyone got picked in the lottery this year but still hasn’t received Receipt number?
My application was submitted in early June.

From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

How easy is it to get a mortgage for the second home?

Household income - 300k

Happy to add more details as needed

Thanks

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?
