I swear I'm not anti-social but I really don't miss in-office connections. I feel like working from home gives me enough alone time that I actually have social energy for friends and family who I want to spend time with. When I was fully in-office, I was drained by the end of the week and barely wanted to see anyone on the weekends. My WLB is much better with a remote role.
That’s completely fair, the office life isn’t for everyone.
I still have them, just on our Teams chat! I’ll send a congrats if somebody has just done something, or just a check in and ask how it’s going. Not everyone loves it, and I get it, but some people have said they appreciated it!
Ah brilliant! That’s a good idea
It's really difficult to replicate that kind of camaraderie in remote scenarios. Those corridor chats are very useful in terms of work, besides just being nice in a social sense.
I agree! I find in-person means I can have a conversation with someone much better too and projects get completely way more quicker!
It’s a lot harder but making messages/emails a bit more casual and open can really help to loosen people up and build relationships.
That’s not a bad point! It’s always helps to be nice over messages
