Any advice for someone who is looking for his first job in the video game industry? I've just graduated in my higher education in interactive environments and don't get much responses to my job applications

Might consider finding an internship or two. It probably won't pay much but you get experience for your resume, which will give you a leg up. Plus you will be able to network with people in the industry, which is extremely important. The video game industry is extremely competitive.

Not necessarily game dev, but it is the video game industry

@Marcos - I am not sure what you are referring to when you say "Interactive Environments" - but if you are looking forward to becoming an "Game Environment Artist" , then I would recommend you to start with a portfolio first.

Connect with me, I will help you my best. I myself an senior game environment artist in the industry, would be glad to help you out.

Hope this helps.
Cheers.

This is a very useful and informative link. Feel free to use it.

The greatest approach to break into the video game industry is to become an expert in one field, but you also want to capitalize on your strengths. You should concentrate on your skills and look for a position in the gaming sector that is most compatible with them. For instance, agile project management, marketing, sales, production, design, and much more

I spoke with a recruiter recently about a position in her company and before we even began talking about the job, she asked if I needed an sponsorship, I told her no, I dont need one. But she continued to press on the subject until I had to tell her I was a US citizen. I dont know why, but the whole conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. So my question is, can recruiters ask you about your visa/immigration status even when I told her I didnt need a sponsorship??

I switched 20 days back to Optum. I have 7 years of experience working as a full stack Engineer, who is passionate working on both front end and back end on latest technologies. I later learned that he was making double my salary. I know it's not an employee's job to fix pay inequity by sharing their salary figures, but I'm still of the opinion that it helps uncover pay gaps. But do you think it's wise to do so at the risk of damaging your work environment or the whole thing backfiring on you? Thoughts are welcome.
