I love this. I definitely try to smile when I come across somebody and I’ll hold open a door to a store if someone’s behind me. Just little things to you know so I’m a somewhat decent person I suppose ha ha ha.

Yes, smile cost nothing. It brings joy to some sad faces

I helped an older customer out to her car and loaded her bags into the trunk for her. We always offer to assist with bags and get taken up on it a lot, so this wasn't that unusual, but she was so sweet about it. Thanked me multiple times and tried to hand me $20, which I had to refuse because we're not allowed to accept tips. So many people take the help granted and pretty much ignore me when I'm assisting them, so having someone be over the top grateful really put a smile on my face. It's nice feeling truly appreciated for a change.

I definitely agree with you. I have observed that older people feel happier when we help them. It’s always good to smile and be kind to them cos most of them are lonely.

I recently helped an older woman who seemed to have scoliosis get up on a curb, she was struggling to make it up then I made sure she got in the store ok.

Am sure she would forever be grateful to your kind gesture.

Kindness definately goes a long way. I had a phone call from an elderly customer struggling with some online banking problem. After helping with his need, he told me that I was efficient and patient that my company was lucky to have me. Not sure, company feels that way but it made my day and I felt worthy.

Most of these companies don’t appreciate our hard work.
My joy is that those that we serve appreciate us.

He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. He then asked where the change was, and when I explained that I didn't give back the loose change, he made a big stink about how dollars and cents matter and didn't leave me a tip. He was a republican staffer on capitol hill.
