That Friday feeling...
Hi All,
I joined Tech Mahindra for 5 days only and didn't find suitable timing for my project and emailed resignation mail to manager and HR. After that HR asked me to resign over portal but at the same time blocked my portal. After requesting many times they didn't unblock my portal and pretended like they want to unblock but there is some issue going on and marked my profile absconded. I have cleared fnf but they are not providing reliving letter but added pf amount also. What to do?
Guys, Off the topic !
I bought a flat, but it didn't come with 4 wheeler parking, so I had to park on the street outside the apartment. However, the builder still has three closed parking spaces available. Could anyone recommend a negotiated price or a percentage off the flat rate for covered parking?
Thanks.

I joined KGS in feb 2022, we recently got a mail regarding timeline of appraisal and bonus payout from the partner. My reporting manager hasn't yet reached out to me regarding goal setting, not sure if that happens here. Can you pls help me to know what all things we need to do from our end for the appraisal cycle and bonus payout? Since I'm new to this company KPMG KPMG India

Something to think about - managers are often promoted from doers & SMEs (subject matter experts), but leading and doing are different skill sets.
Are you questioning yourself because you aren’t enjoying what you’re doing & miss the doing? Some folks are detail people & some are view-from-50k-feet people. It’s ok to discover you don’t like managing people or leading. Every company has senior individual-contributor roles; that might be a better fit for you.
Don’t feel like you have leadership skills? There are trainings & articles & support circles to build those up. Your company may offer them internally.
Are doubting some of your decisions, or finding you need to pivot sometimes? Do you need support from above, or are you feeling lack of respect from below? You don’t have to be perfect. Think of your management career as an Agile project—try phase 1; analyze outcomes; keep what works & retool the rest. Rinse & repeat.
Depending on the relationships in your team, one thing that helped me was recruiting honest feedback from my team. “Help me help you”. I’m a “management’s job is to get obstacles out of the way of the team so they can best function” leader. Once people felt confident that I wouldn’t retaliate, their feedback made my job so much easier.
Don’t despair! Give yourself the grace to figure out what’s best for you. Change is hard, even changes we want. You might just need a little more time to get your feet on solid ground.
Wishing you the best.
With all that said, i truly appreciate all your notes of advice. I definitely will be referring to this as I work to rebuild my confidence in this area.
Listening to your story, it sounds like it was the company culture rather than something you did climbing the ladder. Before completely throwing in the towel, try another company or even another part of your current company’s organization.
There is a huge difference between proper onboarding and setting you up for success to be a driven manager. And no onboarding and expecting you to pick up everything by osmosis. It’s sounds like it was the latter.
I took the route you are thinking of taking - I went back to being an individual contributor/SME. I’ve been at it for long than I should and I’m frustrated trying to get back in that career ladder. Folks see me a SME and not for my leadership skills.
On the flip side, I have watched my current leadership and picked up on things I will try my next go around.
If I was in your shoes, I would try another manager role before calling it quits. One of the first things I would do is find a sponsor at the new company (or your current one), a similar level co-worker/mentor and a SME (could be one or two levels below you) that could be mentor of what it’s like to work in the trenches at the company.
Between those 3 people (and your boss), you’ll have the capability of having a good experience.
No one said you have to stay in a role for long. Most career ladder folks bounce a round quite a bit at first.
