Meet with multiple mortgage brokers and see who has the best rates. Happy to make an intro
Yes I am in the U.S. Can’t speak to the UK process unfortunately, best of luck!
Find a broker! Watch the fees. Stay away from places like Rocket mortgage.
We had excellent service from Rocket and were on par with our local market. Used them for our initial mortgage and also for a refinance. They made everything super easy for us. Never regretted using them.
I agree with what everyone else has said. When we bought our house a year ago, we met with multiple mortgage brokers to see who could get us the best deal. Don’t just go with the first person you meet.

Okay amazing, thank you so much

Tagging on here to ask, do you have to go through all the questions to find the rates? Or do brokers usually know what they could get you before you’re pre approved?

This is also something I’ve been wondering too

Sometimes the preferred company offers a discount
Oh okay, that's interesting! I did not know that
In the US we have credit unions who sometimes have great rates and benefits, especially for first time home buyers. Is there an equivalent in the UK?
If so, I’d check with them and a good mortgage broker who’s knowledgeable, transparent about fees an will guide you. My broker helped us save thousands.
I think there is something similar yeah! There is a lot of help here for first time buyers, so I am sure once I get started with it we will be pushed in the right direction of who to speak to. Thank you so much!
Shop around. Go to multiple banks and a broker. It’s kind of like going to multiple car dealerships for the best deal.
Yeah I think that is the plan for us tbh, seems to be the best way

I would try both and shop around multiple banks and mortgage companies for the best rates and offer (credits, etc.) Best luck!
