Has anyone done the Blackstone pymetrics?
Anyone with recent experience recruiting for Boston Consulting Group? Got in touch with a recruiter through referral, was directed to submit an application and already finished my pymetrics. Anyone know when I would be able to hear back and what the hiring timeline looks like? Recruiter suggested to get back in a few weeks but isn’t it too slow? McKinsey sent me an invite for 1st interview in a few days after they received my referral.

Years of experience plays much less of a role in promotion decisions here. Could be that the experienced managers aren’t highly utilized and there isn’t a business case or could be that they simply aren’t ready to take the next step and/or don’t care to try to. You’re not gonna get promoted just because you have 3 more years of experience if your reviews are average.
Every new level comes with a bump in the percentage of collections you get paid out on, plus higher rates so in that sense there is a bump in total comp, but there’s no huge base salary increase and you’d still be below big 4 base salaries.
Getting shafted is subjective. Busy managers here likely make more than big 4 senior managers and maybe even some big 4 directors.
I’d say over 80% is gonna be a good year. I was basing my assumption on Glassdoor/indeed but not a ton of info out there. What would you consider market rate for the manager or senior manager levels?
I fully agree with the concerns you have about the variable comp structure. It is a risk, so you have to be sure you’re joining a team that stays relatively busy. I wouldn’t necessarily agree with your concern about reviews. They’ve taken steps to ensure that those up for promo are assessed against others nationwide to try to level the playing field so you’re not getting dinged for having an overly harsh reviewer or overly benefitting from having a generous reviewer.
I've heard that the pay at Alvarez & Marshall sounds great but doesn't pan out in reality. Not firsthand experience, just what I've heard from others that switched from my big4 to AM
