Started staff accountant position three months ago, recently asked if i was interested to do some project to help out a different team that could take 3-5weeks. I refused the offer because i thought I wasn’t right fit for the project since being so new, it would take more time for me to learn the process and analyze the issue and getting the project done than the expectation. So told them to maybe ask someone who’s been here with the company longer than me. Does this make me look bad?

Possibly. Next time I would just say, happy to learn but I’m a concerned that the learning curve may be too steep when you consider the brief project period. Then reiterate happy to learn if the team is willing to teach blah blah. Then let the team decide. This way you’re being truthful about your current skillset, eager to learn, and not saying no.

You certainly don’t win points by refusing projects. It’s up to you how much you care about the impact. They might forget or they might have a bad impression of you, hard to say.

I have a 25K loan from my MBA. I paid off 100k whole, after graduation. 3 years ago, I moved my loan from federal to private ( SOFI) account. I recently lost my job. I have applied for unemployment, as the severance that I received will only cover for 2 months. Together my husband and I used to make less than 250k after tax. Now, with a loss of pay , we are going to make less. Do you think I will be eligible for Loan forgiveness?

Hi! I am seeking for an advise, anything helps! I applied to Accenture’s entry level analyst program. I applied a few days ago (I know it’s a bit late, but the application is still open thankfully). Yesterday, I joined a resume workshop w/ an Accenture recruiter. She went through my resume and said that I have a strong one! I’ve also set up a coffee chat w/ her next week. Unfortunately, I got an email today from the system, they decided not to move forward :( Should I reach out to her abt this?
