"We will come out of this stronger than ever"
Translation: Nothing
Lol we’re basically being told we’re happy to have jobs. As Mr. Wonka said “you get nothing, you lose, good day sir”. No raise no bonus after a grueling compliance busy season.
I’m here for the Wonka references.

Office and leadership has avoided the subject. The news comes from a prerecorded message from our CEO. Nobody talks about it at an office level unfortunately, at least in mine.
Same here, not a single word from our OMP unless it’s about hitting billable hour targets, maybe they are hoping we will just forget about promotions and raises
Not much is being done, but I understand that’s because not much can be done. For me, my morale is low because work is much harder remote than it is in person. Especially as we move towards fall, which is a busy season for my office, the outlook looks grim for a lot of employees. Having to work on larger, more complex clients remote is a daunting task. But, unless the virus magically disappears, there’s nothing that can really be done. I want to see my coworkers too, it’s part of what makes public accounting manageable. Virtual HH’s just don’t do it anymore. Not really the fault of anyone making decisions.
My firm is firing a bunch of people so I guess that will lift the morale of those who don’t get fired?
First - no raises or bonuses etc.
Bring morale up - raises/bonuses are only deferred till YE
Back down - sorry, we can't match 401k for 2020.. We'll talk about it being a chance of deferred - but not right now.
😕 At least we have our jobs, but who knows if anyone's gonna be cut day after 10/15. It has happened in the past.

See, if the amount of work we have went down at the same time that compensation was taken away by removing bonuses and merit increases then it would be understandable and no one would be upset. Yet the amount of fucking work remained the same if not more. We already know that we are underpaid in public accounting, COVID just made it a bigger issue.
Nothing.
Daily calls with mini teams in our group, where we blow off steam, complain, tell funny stories. Been doing it for a month. Thought it was stupid at first, but our group morale has picked up big time.
Spontaneous! Definitely not official, but we were all miserable so decided to try something new.
I’m telling my staff and seniors to go find jobs and take an hour off to update their resumes. So far their morale are very much up
The negativity I have towards my job is spilling over into my personal life. However, I'm just unsure what to do about the job situation as it seems like it's the same at all public firms.
BT has done a few “disconnect days” (extra firm holidays) throughout the year. Raises from staff to senior were around normal (10%). And they gave everyone a $350 Amazon gift card to help with our WFH setup.
By giving them more work😅
Counselor can play a big role when your advisee asks for performance feedback & how it will play out for the deferred promo. Unfortunately, I felt like my Counselor does not advocate me either for promo despite some good feedbacks from other Managers. Just getting a lower morale bec of that.
We are providing salary raises soon. We did let about 4-5% of people go in April; all people remaining had no pay cuts, forced PTO or furloughs, etc. Bonuses are not on the horizon for now.
Office nada. Manager could care less.
Leadership is telling us how "damn proud" they are.
Will it though?
