Still waiting for our leftist colleagues to defend or even comment on the case of the church invaded and occupied by protestors in MN. I guess the video doesn’t leave any ambiguity to allow them to argue that it was somehow “fascism” on the part of the US government.

Surely you have thoughts on Den Lemon being arrested? I assume that involving him is a set up to help further his career, and I’m being serious. He will emerge from this with a strong foundation for the second act of his career.

I'm going to get some blowback from this, but I'm a leftist and I DO NOT support this. Places of worship should NOT be entered. Feel free to peacefully demonstrate outside on the sidewalk, but DO NOT enter the church/mosque/synagogue/temple. Period. Full stop. End of subject.

Yes, a resurgence of Don Lemon's career. He might get all six of his viewers back. Anyway, yes you can enter a church. No, you don't get to terrorize 5-year-olds because you're mad about immigration laws that have been on the books for decades. There is a quite brain dead notion that leftist agitators have the absolute right to disrupt the lives of anyone they choose at any time. With any luck, these people will not only stand trial, but face real prison time for their actions.

Worshippers should be allowed to have their church services in peace. Hotel guests should be able to get a decent night's sleep. People should be able to use public streets and roadways unimpeded. The first amendment protects the right to speak, assemble, and petition the government, not to vandalize, falsely imprison, or assault. I think a few more unhinged lunatics need to "find out," to be honest.

This picture is hard to argue with though, isn’t it? Direct screen shot from the YouTube video of the terrorists.

People are allowed to enter a church. It’s not private property, it’s a public building. If the pastor is evil people have a right to come in and tell him that.

Lemon and Fort being arrested was a clearly illegal and vindictive move that should alone be grounds for impeachment and removal in any remotely functioning country.

funnylikesmart

Calling Don Lemon and Georgia Fort “terrorists” while excusing the actions of ICE and DHS is such insane nonsense. You really need to stop hanging out at the Nazi bar. It is poisoning your brain.

funnylikeuplifting

I’m sorry, but you’re worried about a public building having public people in it instead of being worried about the literal child predator that was voted into office twice

funnylikeupliftingsmart

This is spin that is so extreme that it completely obscures the issue at hand. This addition to the discussion makes it worse because it is so dishonest.

And yeah, Lemon should get some kind of career resurgence from this. He was clearly the target of a vindictive and corrupt government that is targeting journalists.

funnylike

Grand juries are targeting people? That’s who wants him charged once they saw the initial evidence.

It’s going to be fun to see you take my side about how lawfare is a problem in America.

I will make you this deal. I will join you in denouncing the trials for these people if any of these happen:

If laws are changed to make this case

If juries are told to ignore precedent

If juries are told to ignore guidelines written in the law when considering guilt

If the judge hearing the case has a literal conflict of interest due to family benefiting from the political news of the case

If a juror isn’t impeached after evidence is revealed of prior bias against Lemon such as wearing shirts mocking him

If the main witness if caught lying on the stand

How’s that for being fair? All of those happened in the cases against Trump for sexual abuse and fraud. But you keep saying that those trials and the findings are legitimate.

likefunnyhelpful

There were journalists who entered the Capitol on J6 who were arrested and convicted without any consideration to whether they participated or were just observing. I'd say the precedent seems to work against Lemon.

likefunny

Were they journalists or “journalists“?

likefunny

Don lemon was completely wrong in what he did! Definitely was not being a journalist at this point in time! Scaring kids and telling them that their parents are not to eaten. All sorts of other crap is indefensible. Don lemon should not have rock coffee and donuts for the protesters and I bet that they have a lot of evidence hints why they arrested him of his involvement of being an activist and not a journalist. Should have stayed outside the church and protested from there and all would have been good. But terrorizing children is okay if their parents are Christians.Never.

likehelpful

Just because we say what he did is wrong doesn't also mean we are ok with all of ICE tactics. It's not always a one or the other, left or right only. That's completely judging

like

Personally, I find shooting people in the street and kidnapping five year olds more offensive. It took a court order to release him. Defend that.

likesmart

Two thoughts: first, I think Lemon’s case may eventually make it to the Supreme Court as it is putting two clearly stated 1A rights against each other: freedom of the press and freedom of religion. Which one beats the other? Now, as to the non-“journalist” protestors, Lemon screwed them big time as his video documented their clear violation of the FACE act under which they are being charged. Prosecutors should send him a thank you note.

likehelpful

Oh, lord, OHS! I really hope he doesn't have a second act in television "journalism." Once was definitely enough for me.

like

Though I do not agree with what Lemon did, it is not against the law to enter a public building and denounce a minister, or ICE, a corrupt administration, or a pedophile President.

Do you agree with what ICE is doing? When over 70% of the people arrested do NOT have a criminal record it goes against the bravado of getting rid of the bad hombres.

When they use toddlers and kindergarteners as bait to lure parents out of the house, when they shatter windows and drag CITIZENS out of their cars, when they MURDER American citizens it is impossible to support these "law enforcement" personnel.

Thoughts???? I will be waiting for a reply.

We could certainly examine their arrest and contrast the conservative demand for punishment with the conservative silence when a white self-proclaimed preacher disrupted the service of Jamal Bryant.

Thank you for bringing this incident up. I wasn’t familiar. Let me give you an answer.

First, I do think the preacher and his wife should not be arrested, because there are some differences, namely that what they did wasn’t legally trespassing. But I do think that what they did was stupid and gross.

The reason that it isn’t trespassing is that when security came and told them to leave, they did exit the service. So legally, there isn’t grounds to arrest them. That doesn’t mean that I agree with them or what they did. Here’s a link to a page that includes the video: https://www.theroot.com/jamal-bryant-responds-after-white-pastor-disrupts-his-c-2000088068

There are other differences as well regarding scale of the incident and also that Lemon and his group wouldn’t let people leave and scared the heck out of the congregation in MN. The nut from Alabama at Bryant’s church looks like a lone angry provocative preacher, and is annoying, but does not appear dangerous, and people aren’t trying to actively get away from him on the video. So fear doesn’t seem to be a similar reaction.

And the nut from Alabama who doesn’t deserve to be named never entered the sanctuary and didn’t actually disrupt the service. He was there beforehand. This doesn’t mean that what he did was ok, but it is a different set of circumstances than a large group of people entering the service, disrupting it physically, and refusing to leave or let the congregants leave.

The police did intervene and ban the Alabama nut from reentering the premises. Which is all that you can do in this instance since he did comply with the security at the church and leave when asked.

You do see the differences, don’t you?

I don’t blame Bryant for using the incident to try to grandstand or get some publicity for himself or his church, but these two incidents don’t appear to be very similar, and race doesn’t appear to be a factor in any way.

I have been in services that were interrupted by nutballs. And it looked a lot like this. Mental illness doesn’t deserve to be treated the same as terrorism.
