Rising Star
We don’t end until June 17th!
Same!
I thought going through the 30th was rough. I've never heard of any school going into June and this year was the latest I've ever seen the school year go.
June 5th is our last day. Summer school starts June 20th , the first day of fall semester is August 4th
Same. June 5th is the last day for students. They will return on August 13.
Students go until June 16 (a Monday guess how many student will be there) and teachers go until June 17. June is normal for us
We end on the 18th.
same here
In Jersey we start in Sept and end in June. Unfortunately our district goes until the end of June... June 27th!!
It's only very recently that schools around here got out before June 1. We also started no earlier than the week before labor day. We finished up this week, and honestly, I prefer it to going back in mid-August and being cooped up in school when it's 90° and sunny.
We experimented with June release but it made graduation almost unbearable best wise and it hurt our students graduating and trying to engage in summer college classes since the two were overlapping. It wasn’t popular with parents, students or teachers. We haven’t done it in years.
We got out May 23 and kids return August 5.
Unions and leaders must push to get rid of the "seat hours" Carnegie unit theory. The idea itself is archaic and based on an old model of students sitting in front of a teacher receiving instruction. I'm sure all of you have kids in your class who could Master the material in less time, but also students who could use more time. Further, with more online courses, students are able to work ahead. Finally, and some classes and in some disciplines, the better practice is not to " receive" instruction but to have students engage in more active learning-- "do" things rather than simply memorize.
It doesn't matter if you get out before June if you go back at the beginning of August. Six in one, half dozen the other: potato/potahto. Right?
Have a great summer. You definitely deserve it. My district goes till Thursday the 5th. This is the second yr the district got out that early.
Going to school into June was the standard in Michigan for a long time. Just recently we started to end school the Friday before Memorial Day. You see, the state requires that the students have school a given number of days per year. To accomplish the May end date the students have to come back in mid August. Or have much shorter winter and spring breaks. X number of days divided up over the year.
Still going until Friday. Going into June has been happening for the last 5 years for me. I go 194 days at my school not year round just longer each year.
We always go into June. This year kids go until June 12.
June 10th is our final day. I have ALWAYS taught into June. We start school usually the last week of August here; when does the school year start for you?
Our last day is June 23rd and we start back after Labor Day.
June 4 was the last day for students. Today (June 5) is last day for teachers. Thank God for summer break!
Here in NY, we always go until the end of June due to our Regents exams. No one outside of NYS even knows what these are. They apparently hold students to high and rigorous standards. Not sure if that’s true or not. Our students graduate on June 27th. We go back after Labor Day! HALLELUJAH!!!!
Last day for students (a half day for them, actually). Rest of the day is In-service for teachers. Then In-service again tomorrow for teachers. It will be the longest. Day. Ever.
We go from September 5th ish to June 27th. I’m dying.
