Take the in-house role with lower pay or stay put and keep searching? I have an offer at $155K that is fully remote, but it is a step down in title from my current role. The alternative is staying at $185K with long hours and no growth clarity. This is such a tough decision.

I say take it. It’s not as big of a step down in comp as it could be. Plus companies are more likely to hire someone with some in house experience than more firm experience. So grind it out for a year or so then try to make a move to a better paying in house job

like

Assuming in house means better quality of life and you can absorb the paycut, absolutely take it.

like

That’s still a decent salary, esp for fully remote. I would take it and consider the extra time saved as money.

I agree, if it is fully remote, you can handle the pay cut, better benefits, work life balance and opportunities to grow, I would take it. Maybe see if you can negotiate up to $170,000?

I’d ask if they can meet you halfway at 170k. But I’d take it.

I’d also take, as in-house jobs also have benefits like insurance and real PTO.

Look at the total package, including benefits, retirement, etc. You may be looking at less of a cut than you think. Plus, take into account how much you save in commuting costs, dry cleaning, meals, etc. by working from home.

Fully remote is the gem, I would take it

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?
