Sports are the reward for a functioning society - Sean Dolittle
Wow, very good quote and very timely.
I beg you, please!!

Clearly, my post came across as rash and insensitive - I own up to it and apologize for not thinking it through more beforehand. My initial reaction to this was not to doubt their intentions, but rather based on the approach they are taking as counterproductive. What does NBA/sports have anything to do with boycotting police brutality? The NBA is already doing everything they can to broadcast the BLM message via their ads, in-game messaging, player jerseys, and national attention is already focused on this issue. These players have the right to their freedom of speech and the right to strike at their work, but I fail to see how their workplace is involved in any of the mess, and why they couldn’t just collect their pay for the games and set up a fund for the affected families and communities for direct help. Or even better, broadcast any legal changes that the BLM is pushing for, instead of the general and vague message of “stop police brutality”. I personally just want to see a better use of translating the national focus to actual change vs. a potentially counterproductive measure to simply increase the national coverage

The issue is, they are only seen as playing a sport, they want to be heard, please read this article on what happened to Sterling Brown of the Bucks, they literally could have given him a $250 ticket on his windshield which is what usually happens for parking in a handicap spot and called it a day. If any white athlete speaks about politics they are heard. Ie Drew Brees but if Lebron speaks up, he is told to shut up and dribble. IT IS SO much deeper than playing basketball, working their job, etc. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/sterling-brown-milwaukee-police-racial-injustice
