Deloitte probably isn’t worth it. MBB if you want to betray your team. BAH to Deloitte is a marginal step if not lateral.
Most firms will pay out your switch as your sign on.
If you have an opportunity to do something that you have really wanted to do, then I say go for it! As far as your mentors go, if they would be “upset” with you pursing an opportunity that you feel would help you grow professionally and allow you to be closer to your family - then I wouldn’t consider them very good mentors. At the end of the day, everyone needs to do what is best for them and their families and no one can hold that against you. Be fearless!!
I jumped from Booz to D and got a huge salary increase. I also love D in general....much better firm, brand, opportunities
I will say it also highly depends on your sector and team
I telework 2-3 days a week compared to the 0 at Booz. One of my friends telework 3 days a week and works the other 2 out of the Arlington office, 0 days on client site, very jealous
Push for it to get paid as a signing bonus. I had a friend leave another position where he owed quite a bit for a masters to his old employer. Deloitte gave him enough of a signing bonus to cover it. Deloitte bonuses require two years though or you have to pay it back.
If you’re Fed for both, and you have a large network, I don’t see a huge immediate benefit to moving to D
It's basically working a few buildings down under a different name, on a contract both companies tried to win, which is why it feels so... Wrong? Or something like that.
I’d stick around and wait for them to finish paying for your masters. That kind of arrangement is hard to find.
How much would you have to pay back? You could use it in compensation negotiations with D if they really want you and that’s the only reason to stick around BAH
I just had to pay Booz 11 grand to jump ship.
Mention it to Deloitte. Deloitte gave me 12k sign on which was a huge help
Which I'm actually still trying to finish up. I would even be working in my same area, which is great for my kids.
My struggle is that I've invested a lot of time trying to make valuable connections within BAH, have a lot of great mentors who keep opening doors for me, etc. I don't think they would be upset if I left, or even blame me since I was hoping BAH would win this contract Deloitte has, but... It still feels a little dirty.
Thoughts? Am I overreacting? I've wanted to work for one of the larger consulting firms since day 1.
Also Deloitte does give tuition reimbursement up to 10k/year after a year of service.
