Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I used to. But can’t worry about stuff you can’t control. And honestly, after working for ten plus years and feeling endlessly tired and disappointed by life, it’s not that frightening.
Feeling the same here. I used to want to live forever & was terrified of death when I was a young and happy student with a social life and endless possibilities ahead of me.
Now that I’m older and jaded, it’s not the same anymore. After spending 14 hours a day looking at boring slides and emails behind a screen and dealing with idiots and drama at work, the thought of it all ending one day is actually a relief.

I sit at my computer working 12 hrs a day. Bring that sweet relief on!

I'd much rather have the eradication of my existence than eternal consciousness in some "heaven" or perpetual there-after. Feels like an early chapter out of "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream".

You won’t know your nothing. What’s there to be scared of?
Eh. I'm not spiritual or anything so I'm okay with everything ending and going black at the end. My eternity will be leaving kids a good legacy.

If it makes you feel better you started as nothing. You are just returning to your natural state.

I think of it as being where I was before I was born.
There was nothing before and there will be nothing after.

Like the afterlife or what?
I rest easy that when I die, I decompose into nothingness and my atoms will be reused to create new things or I will scatter into the air drifting away back into space
Try DMT, then you’ll have a whole new perspective. I mean it, seriously
Yes, I’ve been through numerous surgeries that knocked me out and I imagine that’s what death is like in the best possible way. Your loved ones looking at you, you blink, then all of a sudden operation is done and you’re waking up—except there is no waking up and it’s terrifying.
Bring on reincarnation....I need a do-over.
If reincarnation was real, there would be a very high probability of us being reincarnated as livestock in intensive farms destined for human consumption. I’d rather take a pass on that 😂
You are already in grand scheme of things.
The big question for me regarding this lies on wether human consciousness is a manifestation of the physical realm or the meta-physical.
If consciousness is a physical manifestation of your neural activity, then yes you’ll basically be eradicated from existence once your brain has shut down.
If your consciousness and state of being transcends the physical, then there’s probably something in store for you after you die.
I don’t know the answer to this, but yes it does make me think from time to time.
It is a scary thought. Will the spirit lives on elsewhere or blacks out and nothing? If it is the latter I don't think we would be able to reflect that. It will just go black..

I'm with you OP. but I've read different things like how the ability to comprehend the notion of an afterlife is proof enough that one exists. I'm talking about the whole time is actually just an illusion type theory. I haven't dived into that one but it sounds like your life is played on repeat.
So if that's the case, you better make it a good one. And if not, you better make it a good one. And if there's a heaven or hell, you better make it a good one.
Eternity does not necessarily mean your conscious being exists forever as is; it means some part of you will.
That eternal part can be your descendants, your works, your soul, your atoms... In any case, you will be eternal, but also change.
The universe has a plan for you
