The more I see organizations rush to try to embrace AI the more I get worried about situations like these. We are in times where we have to be careful with the information that is being put out but capitalists are going to keep doing all they can to create cheaper content. I’m interested to see if they ever bring the tool back.

Oh sure, upper management will be eager to bring that back as soon as they think no one is looking. People are so obsessed with the AI hype that it isn't funny. You'd think it would occur to someone that writing editorials for a newspaper would be something that requires human judgment. But, no, let's hear what the robots think! What a world.

It’s astounding because every time they try, we get the same thing. Bigotry. But here we are, right back at square one.

That whole newspaper has, unfortunately, been on a downward slide in terms of inconsistent ownership for years. It doesn’t surprise me that the attempted to use an unproven tool (likely to save money). It also doesn’t surprise me that they absolutely bungled it. Effective AI, if implemented, would need to be pioneered by publishers with a stronger track record of successful management and innovation.
