How long have you lived in SoCal? Some fire seasons are ok and others are bad. Sometimes it’s arson and sometimes it’s not. Could be downed power lines- you don’t know where all of them are, camp fires left unattended, discarded cigarettes, all of which are not necessarily arson just careless neglect. There are rare cases of spontaneous combustion.
I lived in a large apartment building in Hollywood and our roof caught on fire one night. Earlier they had people on the roof laying new tar or whatever on a hot day. The tar didn’t cool down enough with the sun beating on it all day and it continued to heat up and fester at night til it ignited. Sparks/embers from that could have easily blown in the wind and caught other buildings and things on fire.
Stop with fear mongering and conspiracy theories. The fire department is underfunded and multiple things were mismanaged. My friend lost her home in the palisades fire, crews didn’t clear brush that should have been cleared (and that had been established as city responsibility), they did not receive an emergency alert, no police or fire crew came through to tell them to evacuate nor were there any fire trucks in her neighborhood as in previous evacuations. It’s a complete shit show.
People always looking for something or someone to blame outside of the obvious (often self-inflicted) reasons. This is how we got RFK and the rest of the nuts. Must be arson! Must be vaccines! Must be immigrants! No, this is life + the sum of our choices.

I keep seeing social media posts of people getting arrested for starting fires in the hills. My son said there was a post about a man that was caught with 3 blow torches and 5 burner cell phones. I don't know what to think.
It’s super dry and the winds are really high. They think a couple of the fires were arson but the two largest ones look probably related to downed power lines.
A lot of these recent fires are starting in the middle of nowhere where there are no power lines. This really feels like an arson spree whether it’s all connected or individual actors but this is an insane amount of fires to be starting
Definitely an arson spree, probably people taking advantage of the dangerous fire conditions. I live in marina del rey and our citizen app has several notifications per day of people lighting palm trees and dumpsters on fire
