Additional Posts in Lawyers with ADHD
I’m not sure how this will impact this bowl, but it is worth pointing out the need to assess whether there should be concern for those in this bowl. While we all understand ADHD is something attorneys are completely capable of managing with legal positions, not everyone in the field agrees with that. https://joinfishbowl.com/post_va66ztgmkw

Employers only have to offer “reasonable accommodations.” Which often isn’t much help here. If I’m in a shame spiral and my executive dysfunction isn’t letting me do what I need to, I can’t tell my boss, “my brain wont let me draft this motion that’s due EOD, please accommodate me.”
That being said, you can adapt your workflow. You can ask to receive details in writing as opposed to orally. You can also use them for accountability.
Personally- I voluntarily send my boss a status summary email at least 24 hours before our 1:1; I’ve asked him to (1) hold my feet to the fire if I miss that self-imposed deadline and (2) to randomly pick an entry and ask me to send a current copy of the doc in its current state (finished or not). The summary must go out on time (or they’ll know I’m not on top of everything), but I don’t want to be embarrassed by how little I’ve done, but I can’t lie because they can ask for a doc at random, “so I better make some progress I can report back” and that boxes in the ADHD goblin and lets me work.
