This is sort of the reverse of another post here - I look really young and I'm a PA, and I've noticed that people sort of look at me like they don't trust I really know what I am talking. I'm told by peers that I sound very confident, but I still get a lot of questions that I don't think someone of an older age would. Anyone else - is it just me?

I remember when I was a fresh-faced resident, I would get the same skeptical looks from patients and their families. They would ask me questions like, "Are you sure you know what you're doing?" or "Can I have a second opinion from someone older?"

I totally get that as someone with a young face. You kind of have to learn to let those things go and always trust in your own abilities. The fact you already seem confident to your peers puts you ahead of the curve.

I used to tell patients I was 27 when I was 24, like that even matters! Just enjoy it, tell them you were a child savant lol.

$700 a month lease (tax-in, 39m/10k) R-Dynamic (380hp V6). Only first month and registration due up front. I can’t think of anything as good or better I can get for that much. Thoughts?

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

I feel left out in my firm. How do I make 'friends' with my colleagues? I've been here for a year. I am naturally not a very out going person, was never 'cool' and I struggle to speak in group situations / make engaging conversation with higher ups. It is an important trait to have in this job and I just don't know how to do this. It makes me very upset - I even sought therapy but wasn't useful. I can't spend 14 hours each day feeling like this:(

How do I leave audit? At times I feel trapped thinking to myself there is no way life is suppose to be like this. How do you find the right opportunity? Everyone says network. But, how do I network? Do I just reach out to my peers asking if they’re hiring? I would love some stories on how others ended up leaving and used their network to find a job they enjoyed doing.

For those of you who made the switch to in house/corporate law, what was your experience like? Did you have to take a lower position to gain the experience or were you able to argue that your soft skills were transferable to in house? I’ve been in litigation for 15 years and I’m looking to make the switch. Ultimately, I’d like to get into Legal Ops, but feel getting some in house experience first would be beneficial.

I recently sign a lease. The apartment will put my security deposit into an interest-bearing account and requires me to fill out a form W9. I will join EY this June and just wondering if this is ok in terms of the independence rule. I guess the apartment will put my deposit in some sort of funds. Anyone with EY has experience? Reading the independence brochure, looks like it does not specify something related to this scenario but just wanted to confirm . TIA!
