This time around, the holidays spent with family and friends really connected me to my softer, homely side. I've never had to deal with this before, but I find it hard to go back to work and be in super resourceful boss mode. It's a funny and fuzzy feeling at the same time. Do you all find it hard to transition back into your corporate lives after time off from work? How do you deal with it?

All the time. I feel this very strongly because in all honesty. I would be a stay-at-home mom and just be gardening and baking if I didn't have to have an income and compete in this fast paced world. Not that I don't enjoy my role and the work I do, but I just know that it's a taste I acquired for survival.. not necessarily out of a passion for it.

I deal with it by dealing with it.

I think about whether or not I could downsize and get rid of all my most expensive stuff and find ways where my partner can sustain us alone.

Then I realize I like my stuff, so I go back to work lol. But I think eventually we’ll have saved up enough where I can take that step back so I look forward to that.

Homely means plain looking or not attractive just fyi.

Every time I have an extended break.

I love being home, how I prepare for the real world is finding ways to simplify the busy work/ school week. For example, this weekend I’m going to meal prep for next week to take some of the hectic out of the evenings

I, a childless woman who does not plan to have kids, am jealous of the parental leave parents get to take from work from choosing to have a child (a big life event). I 100% understand that they are working in a different way by taking care of the baby and being deliriously worn out in the process, but it makes me sort of jealous that unless I have a kid there is no life event that I can take ~3 months away from work to focus on and enjoy, plus have my hours prorated and a job to come back to.

Just wondering about how is the WLB in HSBC account of Synechron, Pune? I am reading so much of pros and cons on Glassdoor and here. Some are saying the cons like Hire and fire are a FAKE news.

I have the highest offer in hand from Synechron with HSBC client. Please help me make up my mind whether I should join them or not..?

I have another offer with LTI as well but just a marginal difference in pay, and the Location is Mumbai. Should I choose LTI instead?

Please Help!!

I am not sure just how many people are in this bowl but I feel like I just need to say this...I AM SO GRATEFUL AND HAPPY WITH MY DECISION TO PRACTICE IP! I am a newer attorney and I practice solely trademark law. I love it, my boss, my schedule and I am happy! I am seeing so many attorneys posting about burnout, stress, and hating their jobs in the other bowls and I just needed to shout it out to the universe that I think we made the right decision with IP.

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? My current consulting role is not - so this would be new.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
