Newport is Republican and a bit bro-y, Laguna thinks of itself as liberal and artsy (but it’s a rich beach town so it’s filtered through that a bit). Laguna Beach is also more cutoff from the rest of Orange County and LA / a bit harder to get out of than Newport, which is more centrally located. Out of the two, I like the vibes and beaches better in Laguna. I’d also recommend looking at Costa Mesa (a bit more affordable and up and coming).
Great if you don’t work in LA.
Fully remote
Both are very expensive.
Newport Beach is very Republican but mostly tolerant; Laguna Beach is mostly liberal
If you're moving there from SF, LA, or NYC, you'll find the people, food and entertainment to be very white and very bland.
I’d be fine with this tbh
Oof, very nice areas but I don’t have a high opinion the OC. As others have said very Republican. I find it white washed and too “shiny and new”, and fake. I have know someone who is a single mom in the Newport area and according to her they stopped inviting her to events because they found out her and the baby daddy aren’t married (they get along and do a lot of things together). And the kids in the area were just meaner than I’ve encountered in other areas - they learn it from somewhere….
Laguna over Newport. I agree Newport is very bro-y and more plastic.
As someone who lives and works down here, a big fan of Laguna. I have lived in promenade apartments near the spectrum and could not have picked a better place.
Awesome thank you!
