I teach them together
I've done both. We make a clock out of a paper plate, & as long as they remember the 12 is o clock, they can mostly tell time by the hr. But that's 4 my high kids
If the students use devices/iPads, teaching digital time can be fairly easy to integrate. You can set up their schedule with times on it, and you can ask them “what time is it?” and start by prompting them to look at the time on their device. It is helpful though to make sure they have an idea of what time means first (what do you do in the morning, when do you eat lunch, etc....) before moving on to time telling. If not, they might just recite back numbers without understanding that they mean something.
