To be fair it is a slight national security risk to have the parent company subject to CCP laws.
But there are hundreds of other things that we allow that are way worse and more pervasive to than Tik Tok.
This screams big tech lobbying.

Yeah someone like Microsoft owning TikTok would be better for the competitors. The industry also stands to lose with tougher data protection laws though. Our user data has value that they can carve up and sell. I am curious what high value data the CCP could derive from what they collection. I’m not connected to many friends on TikTok, I watch dog videos, I make an occasional comment. I keep access to my camera and mic turned off. I’ve never analyzed what goes over the wire though.
