Tired of copying language from a PDF and having it hard enter at the end of each line?

Highlight the language after copying it and open Find/Replace (Ctrl-h). In the find put "^p" in the replace just put a space. This will remove all of the hard spaces on the selected provision (just make sure to hit "no" when it asks if you want to search the whole document afterwards)

Am I the only one whose time entries get worse the busier and more chaotic a specific case is? Like for example preparation for a dispositive hearing with a lot of factual and legal issues that’s treated like a fire drill. My time entries are chaotic and rereading at the end of the month I feel like the time was totally justified but also like wow it sounds like we were jumping all over the place and we were, lol time entries were not your typical sequential one step at a time thing.

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. I’m a junior in big law and in the short time I’ve been here, I’ve noticed that counsels produce perfect drafts and yet aren’t partners but partners can’t write two sentences without numerous typos. Shouldn’t counsels be partners and partners counsels instead?

Can I afford a $1.5M primary residence with a ~$9,000 monthly payment after 20% down if my household monthly take home is ~$25,000 (with another $50k in annual bonus)? No debt other than monthly credit card bills. Am I being irresponsible? Will I struggle month to month?

What monetary goal/target are you telling yourself to hit before quitting big law?

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

Is it easy to switch from niche litigation like ip to something broader?

Any Atomic Habit readers here? I’m brainstorming identity-based habits for two things I want to change:

-I want to bill more hours, so my goal is to become the type of person who bills at least 8 a day
-I want to drink less alcohol, so my goal is to become the type of person who drinks occasionally

Neither of these feel that helpful. Any one have suggestions for other identity-based goals that get at these changes I want to make?

There’s a practice group that I’ve been trying to find work in but whenever I volunteer to help, I always get roped in to do non billable work. In the beginning it was fine but now I’m feeling it’s never going to amount to actual work. Any tips to get more involved without all the non billables and how to approach this gently?

I’m a second year associate and last night I was online until 2:30 AM waiting for one specialists comment to a purchase agreement. I had added all comments during the day from everyone else, and the midlevel and senior were online as well, but it seemed very strange to ask me to stay up just to add three sentences to a purchase agreement. Is this normal?
