USDC is frustrating…. People can coast at the same level for 6+ years, but when they eventually decide to go up for promo they have priority over high performers who have less years at level? HOW.

Because there’s no sense of urgency for promotions in USDC unlike traditional, which is supposed to be a benefit of the talent model.

Not saying that I agree.

Not necessarily priority. They may have deeper knowledge and more experience, built stronger relationships with leaders… there are many variables and promo is competitive.

In addition to what D2 said, idk how long you've been here but a few years ago (2021) it was apparently desperate times and some people were being pushed to go up because there was next to no SSS in some places. The irony being they brought in a TON of people around that time who had the qualifications for SSS but were hired as SS and were not allowed to interview at the SSS level when they announced they would be posting for SSS.

So it's very much that they prioritize the skills you've developed being client facing as well as the network you've developed. People who have been here longer have more firm knowledge and connections, and that is the game here, for better or worse.

Senior to Manager-level Data Scientists, what is the minimum set of skills and experience you require someone to have in order to train them to be a Data Scientist?

I have a handful of people from BI and Marketing who want to learn how to be a "Data Scientist" where some of them have stronger SQL knowledge and ability than others, but some of them have more exposure to languages like Python and R, and a little bit of machine learning exposure.

Appreciate the input in advance.

I need to grow my professional network, I feel lonely and little bit stuck...How did you find your mentor?

Hi Team,
Need your inputs. Is stability more important than the opportunity?

I have an opportunity to explore how ever it's been only 6 months in current organization.

Can I take the offer and switch? Does it affect the stability?

Please help.

Question! I just moved(transferred) to another team of my company and received new title, graphic & creative services. I was a senior graphic designer at the previous team. What do you think about my new title? I know that title is not a big thing but why I feel like my title is downgraded here… Good thing is my jobs here at my current team are what I really wanted to do. This is amazing. I love my new team and people here! Super healthy working environment! But just curious about the title.

Looking to transition out of sales. Ideally into public policy or public relations, I have some experience wearing a lot of hats in an operations/admin role. But have been struggling to find an entry level role that requires less than 3 year’s experience. Any advice?

Hi - I’ve moved to Toronto (from Asia) with 5 YOE in Corporate banking + 2 YOE IB/capital markets (7 YOE in TOTAL) working roles in Front Office and financial analysis.

Believe I’d be a great fit as an Associate in the same space at the major banks (RBC, TD, Scotia, CIBC etc) or in PE/ Asset management.

Could someone help by mentioning the salary ranges I can expect?

Also any tips on networking would be appreciated. Thank you!

I was hired within the last year as a site supervisor. I did well my first few projects with the company. They asked if I’d be interested in transitioning into a construction manager role. I agreed. Now I still am the site supervisor on projects but I’m also doing all the construction manger duties on the project as well. Essentially 2 jobs for one salary. We have yearly reviews in December but no talks of raise have been discussed. Any help on approaching this to my boss?
