Veterinsry Receptionist, 2 years of experience. However during these 2 years you've also received a $4 raise. The owner sold the buisness, and by the grace of whoever we all get to stay. I've been asked to help with the transition; training everyone with the new software, integrating in new practed. I feel like I should ask for a raise due to the increased responsibility. I get paid $24.50/ hour in the DC, Maryland area.

I hope you asked and received the raise you so deserve. I went through a similar transition in 2021 when my initial dentist sold. I took on more roles as well with the new guy so I was given two dollars an hour increase. Now, the practice has relocated and we have new software, I have even more responsibilities so I'm going for another raise, $5 this time!

is anyone familiar with pay differentials, negotiating for a temporary raise or some other form of compensation for extra work? 3 coworkers on my team have recently resigned, and certain shifts are being expected to work at half staff until new hires can be brought on. if my workload is being doubled, i expect to be compensated, as they are paying one employee to do the work of two. any suggestions or wording on how to address this?

Is negotiating offers the norm now? I’ve been at my company awhile and at the time I was hired they said they don’t do negotiations, take it or leave it and they’d offer the next person. I do believe we renegotiate now, however I’m not sure if it’s the rule, the exception, or somewhere in the middle?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). How do I approach this with my boss as I’m not sure she’s aware I’m actually technically a junior? Revolving around asking for a move up + raise

What's the best form of compensation to ask for and why?

My employers' CEO just announced that they just received $7 million from investors. He wants to use that money to offer incentives to employees that hussle and drive more revenue for the company. Cash bonuses, raises, profit-sharing, company equity, 401k match, etc.
