Any Bainees willing to chat/refer?
Bain & Company Hey! Got dinged at BCG and Mck and then hadn't heard back from Bain, but just found out I made it to final rounds. I haven't been prepping for over a week as it'd be two since my first round at Bain.
Help! Whats different or similar about Bain final rounds? I'm applying to Texas offices for an experienced AC role. I also may have to have an accelerated final round as I'm leaving the country for most of April. Bain & Company

Mentor
Harvard is there. Bruce Henderson went to Harvard and Started BCG. Bill Bain left BCG and started Bain in the same city. Bain partners left Bain to found Parthenon in Boston. Michael Porter taught at HBS and founded Monitor Group.
Bonus: Arthur D Little was founded by an MIT grad.
The universities are nice no doubt but the aesthetics of the city is not what I was expecting. It’s like a buncha shacks on the water and then expensive high rise condos next to them. I’m also surprised there’s no direct rail line from the airport to the downtown like other bigger cities.
Harvard and MIT.
Top tier schools (Harvard, MIT, BC, Tufts) and their alumni end up staying in the area to work in consulting and/or start businesses in STEM-focused industries such as life sciences, which is a huge client sector for consulting firms (largely PhDs from MIT)
Life sciences, tons of pharma and medtech headquartered there
Same reason why Silicon Valley became a hotbed for tech. (Echoing everyone else), it’s the schools, which bred the medical community, pharma/biotech, investment management, and PE community as well.
The fact that consultancies prefer Boston over NYC is proof that consultants are 10x more pretentious than finance bros.
Consultancies prefer nyc
It has an accessible airport and a talent pool of college graduates that are perfect for generalist roles like consulting. Also, easy to get to NYC and Europe.
Agree, hate Boston
I think it’s charming but very expensive for what it is and old. Would rather pay the same price for better weather and better access to nature in Seattle personally
One of my favourite cities in the world! So jealous, I miss Boston, enjoy the visit 😇
Because the people who started them just happened to live there
