Was talking with a friend and they told me that their employer does not pay them for holidays as they work hourly. Is this common at other firms? My current firm has paid us for holidays yet we still are considered hourly and it just sounds a bit insane for the firm to not pay out for that day. We are both at Japanese American firms.

In the U.S., there isn’t a federal mandate for hourly to be paid for hours not worked. With that said, state may have further clarifications. Anything else is up to the employer unless there is some union agreement or similar.

- Entering a new market.
- Entering an old market with a new product.
