Was told that I'm doing excellent work, I'm reliable, responsible, exceed expectations for my level after several months on the job. However, I need to build a brand, as I can be introverted sometimes. I was advised to have catch ups with senior people and get myself noticed. How do I do that? I don't have any work related projects with these people. How do I build my brand?

Literally just ping folks on IM that are at your bosses level and let them know you’d like to schedule a casual 1:1 to better understand their team and how you and your leader’s work impacts their world. Then do the same thing for departments that are adjacent to yours or partner closely. When you meet, ask them what their week is like and get to know them. If you hit it off, say you’ll make the meeting a recurring bi-monthly connect. If you don’t hit it off, make it quarterly.

Also schedule your skip level meetings with your boss’s boss and their boss.

Thanks!

I have the same thing, I work remotely and neither I have projects to work with other teams. But my team does these Friday coffee chats and I make sure to not miss any of them, I chat and connect with whoever shows up. Check if your company does something like that and make sure to find any possible opportunity and say yes to it. Its always nice have a good word about you going around the team. FYI, I am in a start up and have a team of less than 10!

This is a great advice, thanks! We are about 1000 people globally.

I joined an employee resource group and was able to get face time w senior leaders at those type of events.

I'll check if we have it, thank you!

I found that dating “Hello” to people in the hallway, start a smaal chat at the coffee machine or say something when you pass their opened office door. You might be introverted, starting to talk to people is part of building your brand, even if it is with the small polite gestures like small talk. If you have a laugh together, that makes you most memorable. It’s a first step. (I cannot speak for the remote working situation. )

Anyone in downtown bk or Williamsburg wants to join our board game group?

We are currently a group of 3, but one person is moving to west coast soon, which reduces our board game options and complexity!

We tend to hangout with limited groups of friends and meet up at least every other week. So ideally just want to find 1-2 more like-minded people to join us.

If you are interested, please leave a comment with what are your top 3 board games and a description of your personality :)

I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.

I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.

Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.
