They are just sitting there? Not even reading a handbook or something? At my job, we were just told to sort of figure it out and meet with people one on one to ask what they do, lol.

They try to do that but everyone is so busy with their own stuff that nobody has time to talk them through it! It’s so poorly organised, I feel awful :( They have done all relevant training for softwares etc and now are in limbo a bit
That's an interesting question about why there's no training plan. Some organizations have a pretty good onboarding system. But I suspect some of them just consider it low priority as things keep changing. My guess is that they probably realized it's better to do it on an ad hoc basis. And depending on how well that's done, you might wind up with what you're describing, people waiting to learn something.

Yeah it’s such a weird thing that it’s not prioritised !
Is it a smaller company? Have had some issues while being the new person, but not to the point where I was just sitting around doing nothing because there was no plan in place. Being trained and onboarded is a huge determinant of success, in my opinion.

Yesss, it is a small company. I totally agree, it’s something I think should be planned well in advance but there’s been no plan here

Totally agree! Starting a new job without a clear training plan is tough. It’s such a missed opportunity to set people up for success and make them feel valued from day one.

100%! It also I feel limits the opportunity to actually chat to colleagues and get to know people! When you’re being trained it’s such a good opportunity to chat
