Think of the billable hours you’re leaving on the table!
Very true. But I have other cases with deadlines. It will take me forever to complete the privilege log.
We use Relativity and our vendor was able to set up tag categories for why something was privileged. So the juniors went through it and hit “privileged/not privileged” then on basis of “XX” for “YY.” Easier than spelling it out
Perfect. We have Relativity too. Ill look into this option.
You should be able to get the vendor to prepare one for you. I would split this up. Give them a log now and then also a little later like a week or so call it supplemental
Most e discovery software have that technology to create one for you
I've created a privilege log worse than this. What did you use to review and redact the documents? With Relatively, you can export a spreadsheet that has most of the information you need to create the log. If you tag the documents while reviewing, it makes the process even easier.
Is this your first production ever? Logging the basis for your redactions and withheld documents is standard. It’s always easier to plan for it at the outset by reviewing for privilege when you’re reviewing for relevancy to produce and then creating tags in relativity to track your work. As another commenter noted, if you use the tags properly you should be able to export that data into an excel document that creates a bare bones privilege log. Going back and making a log after the fact is inefficient and if I were the client I would balk at you now doing two reviews.
