They did this to me so many times at circle k, I’d often cover shift at the last minute or be asked to stay over a couple hours to help the 2nd shift and I would with no question but when I asked for help it was a labor issue. But looking back on it I wouldn’t do it again, never volunteer your time if it’s not going to be appreciated, appreciated as in proper compensation for the time worked, I was at least compensated for the time I worked over or was asked to cover, but that was never the point for me, it was me giving all the help while receiving none in return.
Nope. It’s illegal to not compensate for extra time. Put your foot down or they’ll keep walking over you
