Really depends on affordability
I prefer bayside - Elwood, Brighton, Hampton, sandringham, Beaumaris
Check what school you’d like to send them to and accordingly decide with your budget in mind
I think the best suburbs for kids are the bayside ones. Beaches, big parks, lots of other families. I’d say from Elwood to black rock depending on the commute you can stomach. Either side of the Nepean - but those suburbs on the inland side - eg Elsternwick , Brighton east are a little more affordable but still have the same benefits.
Depends on budget and how long you are willing to spend on commuting. I have avoided Bayside due to commuting and kept to the inner East / South East - think South Yarra / Prahran. Very strong schools in the area but not always affordable.
Upside of Bayside is easy access to the beach and more space.
Head to nillumbik. Eltham, Hurstbridge, diamond creek, warrandyte.
Lots of bush, trees, nature, rivers.
Perfect distance to city, beach, rural, mountains. It’s beautiful.
