I've lived in both Toronto and Melbourne and a few things I'd note re CoL are that rents will be similar dependent on where you choose to base yourself- the inner city suburbs of Melbourne are better connected by train, tram and bus than those in Toronto so plenty of areas to choose from. but i find dining out and grocery shops more expensive in Melbourne than Toronto, even without tipping being required. However salary offers are generally higher than what I experienced in Toronto so perhaps that would all balance out. Perhaps for your skillset LinkedIn might not be a bad place to find some openings in the city?
Thanks so much for your comment!
I have already started reaching out to recruiters from search firms. I am trying to see what openings are gauge if employers would be open to a conducting virtual interviews prior to my arrival in a Melbourne. My goal is leverage my working holiday visa and be available to work in Melbourne by Feb 2023.
Where are you moving from?
I don’t think you’ll find a huge cultural difference between Toronto and Melbourne. Cost of living might be similar (if not cheaper here) and there are plenty of green spaces in the inner city and further out. As a first point of call I’d suggest checking seek.com.au for jobs. Good luck!
