I’m aiming for Fat FIRE. $10M minimum NW although I expect to be at $13-14M. This is more than I need but growing up without anything, I want a large safety net, ability to travel a lot more, and be able to spoil my grandkids (and which is far off).
Currently just shy of $7M.
I don’t know if we can ever comfortably retire so working until we’re unhireable/fired for being too old is the plan. Between the both of us we are not even at a million in investments and we’re not young.
This is the reality. I’m a widow and pulling all of the expenses/savings off is tough. I admit I spent foolishly early in life and I am paying for it now. Nearly 50 years old and only have around $100K in 401K, Roth, & non-company savings, & owe $30K on my mortgage. It is what it is and I’m trying to make up for lost time, but the $ only stretches so far. I’m grateful to have what I have; people are being let go right & left and/or don’t have enough food for groceries. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will probably work until I can’t any longer.

2.5M put into what? If it’s a house and investments it could easily do that
Agree including your house in this number makes it not as stable. Unless you’re planning to sell and downsize drastically.
3.5 mil and my goal is to retire by 45. However, my husband wants no part of retiring that early, so that relieves some of the stress for early retirement. His pay can cover our yearly costs. I basically need to work until we don’t need to keep saving. The 3.5 should last us even if/when he chooses to retire so I may dip earlier than that.
It depends on your spending. $2.5m could support around $100k if soending.
You will also get social security for around $40k per year after age 67
$15M is our target.
I’m in the 3.5-5.0M target range. Currently at $2M liquid at 32 years old. Should be very close to $5M by 40 even if I step into corporate
$10M excluding primary home
