I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
I am currently interviewing at TikTok for the Content Partnerships Lead role. Can anyone share some insight into the salary bands in the Sub-Saharan African market? Should I benchmark with the global rates?
Any tips and experiences interviewing in this region are also welcome - and highly appreciated! :)

I feel like my instant reaction is this being some executive's pet project and having to counsel them on why NOT to do it.
I guess it could be on brand for some organizations but I feel like it comes with way too much legal and brand reputation risk for most.

The legal implications could be massive - this is something that can impact your customers financial wellbeing. In the case of a memecoin for marketing purposes, likely only for the worse. I could see that ending very badly!
It's a truly terrible idea, and I think most people would be talked out of it, if it got that far, by the company lawyers. But it's such a dumb idea that I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. You just know there are executives out there who see Hawk Tuah Girl or Trump and think, yeah, let's rip off some rubes.
Way too many legal red tape for a company/brand to do it. They'd open themselves up to massive suits.
