What are your thoughts on overnight events for work? My work is having a retreat this weekend and we are supposed to stay two nights in a cabin. I'm not sure I feel comfortable staying in a cabin with my coworkers especially being new. On top of that, I would just rather be at home do you think that it's rude for me to only come during the day?

Is it close enough to home to make that work?

It's a half hour drive. So it's not horrible.

Ummm if you aren’t admin and they aren’t paying you extra, then overnight is a hard no

Tell them you have evening responsibilities at home.

I think things like that should be optional. I would skip

I agree that it should be optional. Being mandated to attend would definitely take away any enjoyment.

We have had several overnight retreats and each has been great! We do get along very well as a faculty.

When i was a director of the Kids ministry team, we had Thursday-Saturday retreats. It was always a great time of connection, training, resting, and team-building.

Go with your gut. If it does not feel right to stay, don’t stay. It is good if you attend the daytime events if you can.

No

I think it would depend on the circumstance and location. If it is paid for or I got payed, I would definitely go.

Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? It seems like the larger chain stores would have more downtime, but I'm wondering if anyone could give some input.

Any experience working @ Chad Jones law?
I’m currently discontent with my income.
(3rd year. Salary=80k and no performance incentive. I brought in $1.4mm AFTER partners claimed over half of fees on my big cases.)
I see CJL offers an incentive+ base but I’m curious about that structure.
Any good or bad firm culture to speak of?
Is it impossible to actually earn a respectable incentive bonus?
Am I going to have some partner come cut me out of any cases where I might actually make a solid fee?

I found 10k per night in burbs of Chicago? 3 - would any cheap Marriott let me run this scam remotely? (Ie call Abilene Texas, check me in without my showing up)
