What are your thoughts on “stretch opportunity”? Like roles that say in the job posting this position has more responsibility, more learning & opportunities for growth BUT same pay. I like growth, but growth doesn’t pay rent.
Would you accept same/lower compensation for a so called stretch role?

Better get some equity that compensates for 3x or more of the gap between cash and market comp.

That’s a good idea I could ask about equity

Matters a lot where you are. Most companies like you know how to do the work and have some experience before officially moving you into that position. I like stretch opportunities because they usually have a time limit, which is the easiest way to not be sucked into more work for less.

That’s a good call out…but I just get hung up on false promises

I'm not taking another role and learning a new job if they aren't paying more. I am too old to be jumping around without more pay. That is just my opinion, though.

I do see this perspective too. It may not be worth the risk

Does anyone know comp for an L4 Global Account Rep role (base, equity, bonus). I’m asked to give my expected earnings prior to going into my final round. Any advice would help!

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

I'm new to all this. Is it best to save 10% of my salary all in my company's 401k (with 20% match, increasing by 5% every year)... or saving 5% in 401k and 5% in a Roth IRA?

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
