I love the problem solving. Basically they send me all of the really difficult issues and I just figure it out using the tools I’ve got. It’s fun, I don’t have to deal with people as much (other than presenting my work occasionally), and I work at my own pace. Best part is job security. Because my role is so niche and specialized, they can’t get rid of me. Yes, they means when I don’t have work (I only work about 10-15 hrs per week), I sleep in, garden, read, watch Netflix, and spend time with my kids.
Data science. I got my masters from a T10 school, so it’s mostly pedigree that got me the job, but school didn’t teach me what I needed to know.
My day to day is fairly boring at this point, I don’t really hate that though. Huge struggle with everything when I first started, in a nice groove now that after a year and some change. A lot of sending out reports and making or fixing financial models. Keep in mind too my responsibilities here may be totally different from another company.
Thank you. Do you feel valued and like the work you do is creating an impact? And what kind of reports?
What do you read and write about? And what kind of excel files do you look at?
Oops. I was giving an example.
