i think it’s more about who you know and your relationship with them
It depends on who the target audience is and what media they’re consuming. Regarding relationships yes always good to have them and establishing yourself as a go-to in your industry for information and insights. Overall, getting coverage depends on whether your pitch solves a problem, is of interest or informative to the media outlets audience.
Cover all forms of media. Broadcast/tv, print, radio. Agree it depends on your relationships.
Uff what a question! I mean, there are many aspects but I think something that is at top of mind for me is one that has a very clear business goal in mind. It's not just "media for media's sake" - are you trying to sway public opinion on a topic, apply political pressure, sell a product, whatever that goal is, will earned media help you achieve it? I'm in a niche industry where our potential customer-base is literally a handful of people, so our earned media strategy is very specialized - we don't have the resources or interest in spending a lot of time on consumer, mainstream media because the cost/benefit simply doesn't add up. So that's that for me, I think. Holistically, does your media strategy align with your business' core objective.
