How does companies buy out notice period?
Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!

If you’re on the bench then no time is required. Else it’s project dependent for transition times, but no longer than 2 weeks despite what any managers or leaders tell you.
Thanks for the advice
Assuming in the US? You usually don’t owe anyone squat. I’d put in my notice tomorrow letting them know your last day will be Thursday. Offer to spend as much time transitioning anything as necessary between now and then. If they probe tell them you’ve accepted a new job and your start date was accelerated on you. Enjoy taking a 3 day weekend before the new gig. Congratulations.
Appreciate it!
Tell the first firm to push it back 3 weeks. Take 2 weeks off between work and enjoy yourself. There is no better way to take time off than between roles
I just left, took a trip in March
It shouldnt jeopardize the offer. 2 weeks is very reasonable, some people ask for months.
Thanks the for the advice!
